Antonio Brown: Done in the NFL

Jake Bruton

Over the past few weeks, football wide receiver, Antonio Brown has been through allegations of sexual assault, punching a staff member, getting cut from the Raiders, being dropped by Nike, and being cut from the Patriots in three weeks of football season. Throughout these three weeks Antonio Brown has been everywhere from phone screens to big screens. Two different women have accused him of rape and sexual assault, no one can know for certain that this is true until he is tried in court. With these allegations came being cut from the Raiders, this started because he wasn’t able to wear the visor that he wanted and threw a fit, punching a Raider staff member/ threatening a Raider staff member. This is all in the first week of the 2019-2020 football season.

After all of this, he got a deal with the New England Patriots to play for them. He played one game on the 15th of September, scoring 1 touchdown with 56 yards. He was then cut from his deal with Nike, losing a giant $30 million dollar contract. Nike had to say that Antonio Brown was not a Nike athlete with the sexual assault and rape accusations. Finally, the Patriots cut Antonio Brown not being able to handle his outcries on Twitter of hate and anger.

Antonio Brown has finally said that he is going to retire from the NFL in a tweet on Twitter. It is not known if the Patriots will still pay him the $9 million he was supposed to have earned playing for them. Throughout his 3 years playing, he has played for 2 teams but has been apart of 3. This can teach all of us to not have a big head and remain humble even when the spot light is on you.
