NM Governor Announces Plan for Free College for Residents

On September 18th the Governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham, announced that she is unveiling a plan to make tuition at all their public colleges and universities free for ALL state residents, regardless of family income. Some states like Oregon or New York, guarantee free two year or four year public college to only few students that need it but the Governor’s proposal goes further. The New Mexico proposal promises four years of tuition to everyone, including the families that can afford it. This proposal still needs legislative approval, but if this were to be approved she would pay for it with the revenue from the oilfields here in New Mexico.
