For those of you who haven’t heard, Hurricane Dorian first started in the Bahamas. There it at least killed seven people. It ripped apart homes. The water covered most everything it’s path. It started as a low-pressure storm on August 23, became a tropical storm on August 25, and was officially declared a category two hurricane on August 28.

As of right now it is ranked as a category three hurricane, with winds as high as 115 mph. It is currently heading along the coast of North and South Carolina. Power outages and wind damages are very likely to occur in many parts of coastal Carolina. It is tied with the 1935 Labor Day hurricane. Only behind Hurricane Allen of 1980.

So far, an organization dedicated to helping victims of the hurricane has raised $40,171.90. If you want to know how you can help click here. I addition The Walt Disney company is planning to donate 1 million dollars “In cash and in-kind support to help recovery efforts”. Also, Verizon is offering free phone calls to those affected by Dorian. Lastly Miami- Dade is collecting donations to help victims.
