On September 4, Michigan became the first state in the US to ban flavored e-cigarettes. The Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, made this decision after finding out that vaping among young people constitutes a public health emergency. Any type of flavored nicotine vaping products will be banned in retail stores and online in the state. Also, any marketing of the products that include words safe, clean, and healthy will be banned. She also enforced that there will be no advertising of vape products on billboards. According to the FDA, more than 3.6 million kids reported using e-cigarettes in 2018.
